The Library Capital Projects Fund

The Indiana State Legislature provides a public process through Indiana Code (IC 36-12-12) for library districts to plan for and request property tax funds for capital projects, including construction, repair, replacement, or remodeling of facilities; the purchase, lease, and repair of equipment; and the purchase, lease, upgrading, maintenance, or repair of computer hardware or software. Libraries must submit at least a three-year plan.

In 2008, the Library received approval of its Library Capital Projects Fund Proposal for 2009-2011. The 2009 funds are being used to build a children's addition to the Ellettsville Branch, to begin a remodeling project at the Main Library, and to upgrade computers and CATS equipment. The Library Capital Projects Fund Proposal for 2010-2012 was approved by the Monroe County Council on Tuesday, May 12, 2009.
