Makers are all about the do-it-yourself culture, often with the creative addition of technology. Come learn, discover, and create at your library with maker experts from around our community. We have Maker Days programs for all ages. Registration is open now, but hurry, as many of these programs have limited space!
June kicks off with a stylish note with E-Fashion Design (June 6), a hands-on introduction to e-textiles using conductive thread to make electronic cuff bracelets. No sewing or electronics experience needed. On June 8, WonderLab staff will join us in making Pizza-Box Solar Ovens at the Ellettsville and Main branches. Now we're cooking with the sun! Or how about rocking with a paper cup? Staff from BloomingLabs will be on hand June 10 (Main Branch) and 11 (Ellettsville) to make Mad Speakers from cups and plastic bowls using wire coils and magnets. Interested in Fine Arts and Fabricating in the Digital Age? Come for a tour and demonstration of the Fab Lab at the IU School of Fine Arts McCalla studio June 13 to see how digital files become fine art. June 24 at Ellettsville and 25 at Main brings the folks from BloomingLabs back to the Library for Let's Animate, a stop-motion cartoon-making workshop. And our first month of Maker Days programs ends June 29 with the Teen Hackjam, a website-hacking, pizza-eating journalistic extravaganza with staff from the IU Center for Research on Learning and Technology. And that's just June!
For info and registration on both our June and July maker programs, see our Maker Days website.
