Area 10 Agency on Aging administers 2-1-1 Infolink, in partnership with the United Way of Monroe County and Smithville Telephone. This local 2-1-1 call center maintains a comprehensive database of community resources serving Monroe and Owen counties.

Since 1917, the Monroe County Chapter of the American Red Cross has provided disaster relief, services to Armed Forces, emergency preparedness and lifesaving programs to Bloomington and the surrounding communities. Today we serve residents in both Monroe and neighboring Owen County 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

This program provides emergency food, clothing, and limited financial aid. Applicant completes a simple form and interviews with social worker who determines eligibility for services. Clients are expected to participate in the solutions to their emergency situations and demonstrate progress if returning for additional services. No financial aid is given until other resources are exhausted, including application to the township trustee.

South Central Community Action Program, Inc., serves as an advocate, guide, and leader in providing opportunities for the low-income population to obtain services that will help them become self-sufficient. They offer services to income-eligible households throughout a four-county service area including Monroe, Morgan, Brown, and Owen Counties. They also provide energy and weatherization assistance information, help income eligible households with their heat and electric bills, and administer the Summer Cool Program which provides fans to income eligible households.
Monroe County United Ministries is a nurturing organization serving working families and those in distress by assisting with emergency needs and subsidized childcare. They provide quality education and a safe place for children, basic needs assistance for the poor, and community service opportunities.
