The Bloomington Peace Choir is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that is 100% volunteer driven. Our mission is to promote singing simply for the joy of it! We are a member of the international Ubuntu Choirs Network whose members believe that it is everyone's birthright to sing. The Bloomington Peace Choir started in April 2010 with 8 members and currently has a membership roster of around 35 members. We welcome singers of all skill levels or people new to singing in a choir setting. No audition is necessary to join the choir. More information on website.

The Bloomington Symphony Orchestra promotes a lifelong appreciation of and enthusiasm for music through performances and educational outreach throughout the community. This 75 member, all-volunteer community orchestra performs a classical concert series, holiday 'pops' programs, a children's concert, plus a summer concert in the park every season.

Description

The Bloomington Playwrights Project (BPP) is the only professional theatre in the entire state of Indiana dedicated solely to new plays. In operation for 32 years, we serve both the Bloomington and national theatre community by working with talented playwrights, actors, and artists to develop high-level productions for our patrons as well as the many audiences attending subsequent productions of scripts that originated here at the BPP. We are an advocate for playwrights and new plays and believe firmly that they are not only important but absolutely vital to the future of our art form.

Description

Morris dancing is a traditional village festival dance from England. The dances Bloomington Quarry Morris performs are from the Cotswold area of England, as well as some Midwest American dances. Bloomington Quarry has performed at dawn on Mayday at the Courthouse over 25 years, the Shipshewana May festival and ethnic and renaissance festivals in Terre Haute, Indianapolis and South Bend.

 

Will perform for groups. Looking for new dancers and musicians. Requires once a week commitment October through Memorial Day.

Description

MCCT was founded in 1986 by a group of local artists dedicated to the goal of providing positive theater-making experiences for all members of the Bloomington community. Nearly thirty years later, MCCT is now Bloomington's only all-volunteer, amateur community theater organization. We remain devoted to providing opportunities for individuals-no matter what their experience or background-to know the many challenges and rewards of creating live theater.

MCCT productions have included everything from classic American drama to Broadway musicals, Greek tragedies to Japanese kyogen, the plays of William Shakespeare as well as original pieces by local playwrights.
