Description The Indiana/Hoosier Chapter of the Sierra Club celebrated 25 years of environmental activism in 2000. It is an active and vibrant organization that works to accomplish the Sierra Club's mission to:

Description A volksmarch is a non-competitive 6 mile (10 kilometer walk) along a prescribed trail and is designed to encourage physical fitness, to promote camaraderie and to enjoy nature.It is not a contest or a test of speed or endurance. Each participant is encouraged to walk at a pace that is comfortable and enjoyable. Volksmarch is a German term, literally meaning "a people's walk. Local clubs host a walk that has been chosen for its natural beauty, scenic interest, historical value and safety. The trails are well marked or maps are provided. Trails may be in cities, towns, parks, forests, anywhere there is a pleasant or interesting area to walk.

Description Griffy Lake Nature Preserve is 1,179 acres off North Dunn Street, with a 109 acre lake. The boathouse is located at 3300 N. Headley Road. Scenic woodlands teem with wild flora and fauna Nature Preserve. Swimming is prohibited in the lake, and to protect wildlife, all dogs must remain leashed while in the preserve. Call Angie Smith at (812) 349-3759 for boathouse information on Weekdays, and the Boathouse phone at (812) 349-3732 for Saturday and Sunday rentals

The mission of the Hoosier Hikers Council is to build, maintain, and promote high-quality natural trails for hikers and runners in Indiana.  We strive to design sustainable and durable trails which reduce maintenance, by following topography contors and minimizing water erosion.
