Description

Boxcar Books and Community Center, Inc. is a volunteer run, non-profit organization that exists to provide new and used books, zines, magazines, and comics on topics of social justice, independent media, and fiction for the community. Boxcar Books sends literature of all types, free of charge, to prisoners in the Midwest. It also provides a meeting space for community and literary groups. Boxcar Books is affiliated with the Midwest Pages to Prisoners Project, which can be found at http://www.pagestoprisoners.org/.

Description

The Monroe County Library Foundation, also known as the Friends of the Library, supports and advocates for the patrons and staff of the Monroe County Public Library by enhancing library collections and facilities and by contributing to library programming and professional staff development.

 

As a nonprofit corporation, the Friends collect and administer the grants, gifts, bequests, and other monies (outside of local tax receipts) that help make the library's many programs such an integral part of our community. The Friends also help staff and run the Friends of the Library Bookstore.
