Guidelines for Paging, Searching for, or Calling for a Patron in the Library

In situations where information is requested concerning a patron's presence, activity or behavior in the library, Library employees will act in order to maintain the confidentiality of that presence, activity or behavior. The following principles will govern employees' response:

As part of these principles, employees should not discuss the presence, activity, or personal habits of patrons using the library with a third party.

The above principles should guide all requests regarding patrons in the library. However, trained employees may determine that under some circumstances, library services are best facilitated by providing some limited information.
