Bloomington—Monroe County Public Library patrons and community residents are invited to attend a public presentation on the renovation plans for the Main Library. The public can view drawings of the proposed changes to update the library spaces for better service and can ask questions of the architects, Woollen Molzan and Partners, Inc.
The two opportunities for public input are:
noon-1 p.m., Wednesday, April 29
5-6 p.m., Wednesday, April 29
Meeting Room 1B, First Floor, Main Library
“Our staff has had several chances to provide ideas and comment on options,” says library director Sara Laughlin. “We are excited about the draft plans and look forward to hearing from the public.”
The renovation project will address flood damage in Children’s Services, create a Drive-Up Window that allows patrons to pick up and drop off materials without getting out of their cars, consolidate circulation for more self-checkout and self-pickup of holds, and add space for the Movies and Music collection.
The Main Library on Kirkwood was built in 1970. It was expanded and renovated in 1997. Since then, annual circulation has increased from just over a million to almost 2.5 million.
