About Monroe County Public Library
MCPL is an open, welcoming community for patrons and employees and our busy public library enjoys strong support in a community that values education, arts, expression, and civic engagement. We are proud of our highly talented staff and are committed to encouraging their growth and learning.
Located in the beautiful rolling hills of South Central Indiana, Monroe County Public Library serves 137,000 Monroe County residents. Our staff of 170 offers personalized services at our main library in Bloomington, our branch in Ellettsville, and our Bookmobile.

We are dedicated to initiating new embedded community connections. We create "third place" locations by going into the community, listening, and developing library services and support wherever it is needed.
We offer traditional collections, digital resources, outstanding programming and spaces for all ages, and a spectacular teen space and digital creativity center including video and audio production studios. We have an award-winning literacy program and a five-channel community access television network (CATS).
