Community Access Television Services (CATS) Debuts New Website
Bloomington, Ind. (August 9, 2012) — The new website of Community Access Television Services (CATS) has the same familiar URL—catstv.net—but offers a range of new features and functionality, making it easier for county residents to follow local governmental meetings on computers and portable media devices. CATS goal for the website redesign is to meet the expectation of today's viewers that programming be portable, on-demand, and easy to access.
Here are some of the major changes:
Live video streaming of governmental meetings to all iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod)Live audio streaming of governmental meetingsInstant updates on Twitter (twitter.com/cats_staff) for CATS coverage of upcoming governmental meetings and cancellationsHomepage link to current local weather and storm warnings
The website is still in the testing phase, and CATS is asking for feedback from the community. What do users like? What difficulties they have encountered? What suggestions they have for improvements? Comments can be sent to cats [at] mcpl [dot] info.
"We hope the new CATS website will bring a higher level of community access and public engagement to local government," says CATS general manager Michael White. "With our new website, there's no reason to ever miss another governmental meeting."
CATS, a department of Monroe County Public Library, has been bringing local government information and transparency to viewers for 39 years. It receives funding support from the City of Bloomington, the Town of Ellettsville, and Monroe County government.
