This is a great book! The main story revolves around a preteen named Addie. She talks directly to the reader about her mom and step dads' divorce. I was able to relate to some of her academic problems since I'm a special needs kid, just like the main character (though I don't have the same disability). There is some heavy subject matter such as Addie's mom neglecting her daughter, and mention of a couple having sex. There's also mention of smoking, but that's the worst of it. I could see how this could be intense for some people, so I think you should check this book out of the library before you buy it. But it's still a recommendation.
Overall rating: In for ages 10 and up and 8/10
